A unit all about fall ya’ll. Corn, pumpkins, apples, and leaves, worksheets, experiments, and treats.
Fall is my favorite season. All the bugs die off, the leaves are so many different colors, and it finally cools off again. Plus there’s pumpkins, apples, and Halloween! We want to learn continuously as we are still in that phase that everything is so interesting. Here are a few things we are planning for this month:
School at home versus homeschool are two very different concepts, but don’t be afraid of worsheets and unit studies.
We like to read every night before bed, it’s great family bonding time and some of the conversations started by the stories are great.
Hands on fun will never fail to teach something, even if it’s only unintentional, haha. (Like the smell of burned popcorn, yuck!)
Extend the theme to the sense of taste, after learning about how things work, grow and are used, let them taste the season.
Notice that all of the items linked up above are about autumn, NOT Halloween. We do a 13 nights of Halloween unit as well, that we bring Christ into the holiday as much as possible. We do love all the fun of Halloween, but it’s hard to ignore the not so great parts, so we do talk about those, and ways to steer clear of the dark parts.
