My ‘Guest Room’ Apology

The Guest Room Apology From Your Mama Friend

I’m part of a few ‘Mommy Groups’ over on Facebook, and occassionally I come across some amazing posts. The following post as an open letter to a dear friend about her guest room was shared in the Bringing Up the Littles by Allison Wilson Wright; and she gave me permission to share it with you. She captures the changes in friendship and life that having children can have, and I love her way with words and the delicate story she shares.

After Kids, ‘Well Rested’ is a Myth.

‘Well Rested’ is a Myth

At the beginning, individuals comprehend that bringing new life brings weariness. Individuals inquire as to whether the infant is sleeping through the night, as though that is the mysterious key to them feeling like completely human again. In any case, each parent knows, it is most certainly not. I’m entirely certain that moms never feel like fully functional human beings again. Perhaps they simply change the meaning of what “Cognizant” means, which no longer infers anything firmly identified with “rested”. Here’s the reason:

Child-Free isn’t a slap in the Face…

Moms need female friends; and Child-Free can be the best kind...

Why Moms shouldn’t shame Child Free Women, but instead Embrace them as Friends

I have a few friends that want nothing to do with motherhood. And that is awesome. Everything in life is a choice, and reproducing is one of those choices. Being a mother is one of my favorite things in my experience. I LOVE everything (well, mostly, haha) about being a mom. I love being pregnant, the birthing process, and most especially shaping these blessings into a person that will improve the world.

Momager Planner

#A2Z Challenge - Momager Planner Printables

Life is complicated. Married life is more so. And when you add kids to the cocktail, sometimes all hell can break loose. Having a printed planner available can really help both yourself, and whoever might step in to help should something happen to you.
Here are a few of my favorite printables that reside within my own family planner.

Jujube Be Hip Bag

#A2Z Challenge - Jujube

With my oldest; it felt like we went through 100 diaperbags. (I think it was 10) they broke, they were too big, they were ugly, or they just weren’t functional. Just before Lea was born, I found this bag on Amazon for less than a 1/3 of what the other bags of the same brand were going for; so I snagged it. And 3 years later, it’s still getting regular use.

The ultimate diaper bag must:
  • Stand the test of time.
  • Hold more than a black hole.
  • Easy to carry around.
  • Look attractive.
  • Have flexible and logical organization.

Homeschooling: Our Reasoning

#A2Z Challenge - Homeschooling

Homeschooling is becoming more and more popular with an average increase of 2-8% every year according to the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI). What once was a stigma is now slowly becoming the norm. What used to be considered “cutting-edge” by many is almost “mainstream” today. And why not? The benefits are a plenty and it’s never been easier to enroll in a homeschooling program that provides the curriculum and teaching aids for the parents.

But let’s face it; the road of homeschooling is not all sunshine and roses all the time.  Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of homeschooling your children…

Children are Happy.

#A2Z Challenge - Children are Happy

Children are happy; if we let them just be. | www.emmmmerz.com

It’s simply impossible to simply impossible for us to grasp; that our offspring are HAPPY. They just ARE. And because we have lost this ability, we have a tendency to try to improve their lives; better games, better meals, better activities; and just “happier.” We clean, we plan, we upgrade, we do more, we presume we know their unspoken desires and over prepare.

And what happens? We get a raging headache for all of our laborious drudgery.

One of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given was this: “If they are happy, let them be”

KISS; Keep It Simple Stupid! (more…)

You Are My Sunshine

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

The other night dear, as I lay sleepin’
I dreamed, I held you in my arms
When I awoke dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cry

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

You told me once dear, you really loved me
And no one else could come between us
But now you’ve left me and you love another
And you have shattered all my dreams

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

I’ll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me to love another
But you’ll regret it all some day

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away
Please don’t take my sunshine away
