Currently :: September 2016

A new month means that it’s time for another Currently. Month’s prompts from Anne are: rememberingquestioningpracticingexpecting, and sharing.
Currently Choosing Happy‘s prompts are: sippingblessingobeyingasking, and touching.

Neither linkup has recent prompts; so I made up my own.

Remembering: How little Jam was as an infant. He was one of those babies that had to go in for monthly weight checks because he wasn’t even on the doctor’s charts. I guess he takes after me as a child. Finally they realized that it’s not that he wasn’t eating (Although we did battle pickiness) it’s just that he *NEVER* stops, and is petite. For now anyways. If he follows my growth, and my father’s before me, he will shoot up once he hits puberty.

Questioning: The sane-ness of Ry extending to come up here to Alaska instead of separating from the USAF. If he hadn’t done the extension, we’d be setting into our home in Colorado now, instead of our Green Castle here in the Last Frontier. I don’t regret our choice, but I am not positive it was the right one.

Practicing: Letters, phonics, handwriting – sigh. Jam is at the age that he needs to learn to read to do much more; and he knows it. But it just is not clicking yet. I am sure it’s right around the corner. He is getting frustrated though, and I just hope we all make it through.

Expanding: The dog yard. We have two black pups (Jet: who we’ve had since 2004; and Noir: who we’ve had since 2012) and they spend a generous portion of their time outside. And unfortunately, at this house, it’s been the smallest yard they’ve ever had. We are spending this coming weekend making their enclosure larger so they won’t be so cramped.

Sharing: Germs. Oh my god. I have been hacking, and now all three littles seem to have it. I am pretty sure it’s just a seasonal virus, but yuck.

Sipping: Coffee, lots and lots of coffee. We’ve been trying to be more frugal, so not many coffee shop visits, but with such an amazing local coffee company, we haven’t been ‘suffering’ much.

Blessing: The homeschool community here is bustling. And the Faith driven group is incredibly active. We’ve also joined an AWANAs group, and it’s been so good for the bigs and me.

Obeying: This is something I really need to work on. I’ve been focusing on obeying God’s commands, especially stewardship of money and treating my body as a temple. As in: quit blowing bucks every where and exercise! Some days I am awesome; and others I fall really short. It is an ongoing journey, and I think I am improving.

Asking: For friends. I am so lonely. We’ve been here for a year, and I haven’t made any friends yet. At least, not any that are staying here. I guess I need to work on my anxiety, and maybe Ry and I need to actually get out of the house and join a church. I also need to get on the ball in regards to PlayNation…

Touching: My children on their heads, hands, backs, faces and hopefully their hearts. It hurts sometimes to see how much they grow and change. Sometimes I wish they would just stop the growing thing.

A Military Spouse stationed in the middle of nowhere. Emma loves to cook for her family (while dodging dirty dishes). She is blessed to be a stay at home mom with 3 kiddos. She is passionate about cloth diapering, car seat safety, breastfeeding, homeschooling, frugal living, babywearing, and her Christian faith. More Molly Messy than Susie Homemaker, she has been trying to improve her housekeeping and related skills.
