Meet Kaley Taylor. She is from the Greater Seattle Area who blogs about her life as a new Air Force milso (military significant other) in hopes to help other couples understand the military life and strengthen relationships. She will one day pursue her PhD in neuroscience in hopes of going into research, but in the meantime she’s planning her wedding and the big move to Las Vegas with her diva kitty. Kaley is obsessed with Batman, Pink Floyd, and glitter (to her fiancé’s dismay).

Military Spouse Appreciation Day

The Prayer of the Airman’s Wife

Make clear my airman’s path of victory,
That it is sure and swift.
Grant him strength of spirit and body,
That he may defeat each enemy.
Give him vision to see his duty,
That it is done as it should be.
And grant him comfort and peace,
That he may know his work is just.

But most of all, Lord, keep him safe,
That he may soon return –
To the family, country, and freedom
That his courage protects.

God bless America and
God bless my Airman!

Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Military Spouse Day or Military Spouse Appreciation Day is celebrated on the Friday before Mother’s Day in the United States. Many United States citizens take this day to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of spouses of their Armed Forces.

President Ronald Reagan recognized the profound importance of spouse commitment to the readiness and well-being of military members and declared May 23, 1984 the first Military Spouse Day with Proclamation 5184, dated April 17, 1984. The US Secretary of Defense, Caspar Weinberger standardized the date by declaring the Friday preceding Mother’s Day as Military Spouse Day.

Persec: A military acronym. Short for PERsonal SECurity. Used in conjuction with Operational Security (OPSEC) to protect the flow of information to undesirable or non-essential parties. Often personal information about a person/soldier/civilian that, if leaked or passed on to the wrong party, could result in either harm, defamation, or potentially even death to said person.
