The Circle is a monthly link-up that was born with dreams of creating a place for bloggers to get to know one another just a little bit better and to make new friends. Hosted by Kiki at ‘In It’s Time‘ on the third Wednesday of each month. This monthly link-up is a place for bloggers to share and write on a fun, light-hearted (or possibly heavy-hearted) topics.

While Kiki has decided to discontinue hosting the linkup; I like the concept, so will be using a list of blog post prompts to continue the tradition.

This month’s prompt is: What is the scariest thing you have ever eaten?

My oldest aunt lives in Hawaii, and is a bonafide hippy. She was raised on a small ranch in SW Colorado, to some very down to Earth Christian parents, and was elated to leave the area behind and reinvent herself. Growing up, I was led to believe that she was the family weirdo. As an adult, for the most part, she is the one that I share the most in common with.

Isn’t it funny how life works out sometimes?

How does this relate to eating? She always sent us fun touristy things from Hawaii, and one year I found a grasshopper sucker in my stocking. It was green and looked like a grasshopper had hopped inside a green Jolly Rancher. To be completely honest; I don’t remember what it tasted like, and I’m not completely sure I actually ate it. Another thing she had sent that year was an Ant bar, it was an orange hard candy bar that had ants inside it. I suspect my mom took all the insect candy and tossed it, haha.

But every time I am at one of those kitschy gas stations (you know the ones they have in New Mexico) I look for the candy, just for fun. (And you know, to terrify whomever I happen to be with at the time.)

What about you, what’s your weirdest food?

A Military Spouse stationed in the middle of nowhere. Emma loves to cook for her family (while dodging dirty dishes). She is blessed to be a stay at home mom with 3 kiddos. She is passionate about cloth diapering, car seat safety, breastfeeding, homeschooling, frugal living, babywearing, and her Christian faith. More Molly Messy than Susie Homemaker, she has been trying to improve her housekeeping and related skills.
